Breast Pump

Can I move around while using the breast pump?

Absolutely! The Wearable Breast Pump fits securely inside your bra, so you can move freely while pumping. Whether you're walking, multitasking, or just relaxing, you won’t be tied down by tubes or wires.

Can I breastfeed on one side while pumping on the other?

Yes! The all-in-one design of the Wearable Breast Pump allows you to pump while nursing without the hassle of external cords, tubes, or hanging bottles.

How do I find the right breast pump flange size?

At MothersHug, we offer a flange size chart to help you determine the correct fit. Using the right size ensures better suction and comfort. To select the correct flange size, start by measuring the diameter of your nipple. While 24 mm is a common standard size, your ideal fit may be smaller or larger based on your measurements. Choose a flange that closely matches your nipple size for optimal comfort and effective pumping.

Can I adjust the suction strength?

Yes, you can! The pump has multiple suction levels to accommodate your comfort and milk flow.

  • S9/S10 model has five suction levels.
  • S12 model has nine suction levels.

How do I clean the breast pump accessories?

For proper sterilization, clean and disinfect all washable parts before first use and after each session.

Non-washable parts:

  • The pump motor contains electronic components and should never be submerged in water. Wipe it with a clean, damp cloth.

Washable parts:

  • Valve, linker, diaphragm, flange, and milk collector

🔹 Cleaning Process:

  1. Rinse all parts that come in contact with milk in lukewarm water (25-30°C / 77-86°F) to remove residue.
  2. Soak washable parts in soapy water (40-60°C / 104-140°F) for 3-5 minutes.
  3. Wash each part with a soft cloth or brush.
  4. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  5. Place parts on a clean towel and allow them to air dry.

Important:

  • Do not store wet or damp parts.
  • Only use drinking-quality water for cleaning.
  • Breast pumps are personal-use items and should never be shared or rented.

How do I sanitize breast pump accessories?

Sanitization is recommended before first use and once per day.

Washable parts to sanitize:

  • Flange, linker, diaphragm, and valve

🔹 Sanitization Steps:

  1. Wash hands thoroughly.
  2. Fill a clean pot with enough water to cover all parts and bring it to a boil.
  3. Place the parts in boiling water for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Let the water cool before carefully removing the parts with tongs.
  5. Allow all components to air dry before storing them in a clean, dry place.

Precaution:

  • The motor should never be submerged. Instead, wipe it with 70%-90% ethyl or isopropyl alcohol.

How often should I replace breast pump accessories?

  • Silicone parts (valves, diaphragms) should be replaced every 1-3 months.
  • Other parts should be replaced depending on frequency of use.

If you notice a loss of suction, check for wear, cracks, or stretching on the parts and replace them if needed.

Why is my pump leaking?

If you experience leaking, check these common causes:

(1) Leaking from the silicone seal:

  • Ensure the silicone piece is properly snapped in.
  • If it's warped or damaged, replace it.

(2) Leaking from the motor or collection cup:

  • Make sure the collection cup and motor are securely attached.
  • Check for cracks in the cup.

(3) Leaking from the milk pour hole:

  • Ensure the silicone shield notch aligns with the collection cup notch.

(4) Leaking from the flange hole:

  • Avoid leaning too far back while pumping.
  • If the duckbill valve is worn out, replace it.

📌 Extra Tip:

When removing the pump, tilt it forward 45 degrees before taking it out of your bra to prevent spills.

Why is my pump making noise?

Some noise is expected when the motor is running, but if it's unusually loud, try these solutions:

  1. Make sure the pump is dry before use.
  2. Check for damaged accessories and replace them if needed.
  3. Ensure all parts are properly assembled.
  4. Make sure there are no air gaps between the pump and your breast.

If the noise persists, contact us for support.

Can I travel with my breast pump?

Yes! When traveling:

  • Use the provided charging cable with an appropriate power source.
  • Check with your airline about carrying or using the pump on board.

📌 Operating conditions:

  • Temperature: -20 to 60°C (-4 to 140°F)
  • Humidity: 15%-90%
  • Pressure: 90-106 kPa

Why do I feel pain while using the breast pump?

  • Make sure you are using the correct flange size - too small or too large can cause discomfort.
  • Adjust the suction levels for a more comfortable experience.
  • Warm the breast with a hot towel before pumping to improve milk flow.

Why is my pump not generating suction?

If the suction feels weak or non-existent, try these steps:

  1. Check the valves and membranes - Ensure they are not damaged or misaligned.
  2. Verify the flange size - Incorrect sizing can impact milk flow.
  3. Adjust the settings - Experiment with different suction levels.
  4. Massage before pumping - Using a warm towel and gently massaging the breast can help stimulate milk flow.
